A brief introduction of the feature known as PIR and how it contributes by cutting down on false alarms.
The acronym PIR stands for Passive Infrared Sensor. Normally this sensor is used in alarm systems to detect the motion of an infrared emitting source (heat) which is normally a human body. The feature is enabled by default on Foscam cameras. With the assistance of PIR the camera will detect human heat and detect moving objects automatically. This assist with cutting down on false alarms which would normally be caused by insects or falling objects such as leaves.
